The name Whitesbog
came about during the time of Joseph J. White’s running the farm here. During his tenure, the farm grew
exponentially, and a company town was formed.
This town became known as Whitesbog, as it was a result of White’s
success in the cranberry bogs. JJ’s
daughter, Elizabeth, also cultivated the first commercial blueberry on the
Whitesbog farm, so it is also known as the birthplace of the blueberry.
