        Piney Lifestyles:  Ever wonder what a “piney” really is?  Brenda will answer this question and many more as she shares her experiences from growing up at the heels of some old-time pineys.  Learn about the special relationship these people have with thePine Barrens, and the personality that they have given to the region over the years.  There will be some discussion about some of the various definitions of “piney” over the course of history.

        Cranberry Culture:  Discover the world of the cranberry.  Learn about cranberry’s unique characteristics and its year-round growing cycle.  Brenda will discuss its history and its contributions to thePine Barrens.  Gain a better understanding of the “business of farming.”  Learn about the scientific research that is uncovering the many health benefits cranberries provide.

        Blueberry Beginnings:  Joe’s great-aunt, Elizabeth White, is credited with first cultivating the blueberry for commercial production.  Hear the story from the family’s point of view. Learn about the formation, rise and fall of the Tru-Blu-Berry Cooperative.  The Tru-Blu-Berry brand has been purchased by Joe and Brenda to bring it home to its original birthplace and to market Aunt Elizabeth’s own very special variety of fresh blueberries.

        Of Hives & Honey:  Bees are an important part of cranberry and blueberry farming.  They have an amazing social structure within their colonies and contribute greatly to our food supply and to our economy.  Brenda will discuss working with these small wonders as part of crop production and share some interesting facts about the fascinating world of the bee.  Honey and its uses and health benefits will also be addressed.
